For the past couple of weeks I've been engaged with two projects, preparing Sysazzle's CEO for a SIM presentation in Phoenix and upgrading a wide variety of Web sites for my buddy Robert.

For the SIM presentation, I've been crafting promotional material and moderator questions for a CIO panel on "Digital Transformations." It's an interesting topic, and companies are spending in excess of $2 trillion on transformation initiatives this year. One of the big research firms estimates that a full 40 percent of all technology spending is going toward digital transformation projects.

One of the hallmarks of a digital transformation initiative is personalization, which is what many news feeds do based upon what you search for on the Web. For example, you search for where and when a movie is playing and you start getting articles about documentaries on your Google News page. That's not too invasive. However, if you purchase a monogrammed shirt you will start to get right-wing political ads where you never saw them previously. That's because people who buy monogrammed shirts are frequently conservative and egotists. I've never purchased a monogrammed shirt, so I haven't been annoyed by the promos for commemorative Donald Trump coins. That would represent a digital transformation nobody needs.

As for the Web sites I'm migrating and upgrade for Robert, here is a list of the ones I've moved for him within the past couple of weeks:

I think he's got another three or four to go including this one, which gives you an idea what all those listed above looked like before the upgrades:

The big SLRs have been sleeping while I focus on the technical tasks above, but I did capture a smartphone shot of Susan as she was headed off to her first class meeting to become a Certified California Naturalist. Susan and Robin make me proud every day.
